El Segundo Library Park Pollinator Garden (The old fountain in Library Park)
This garden was planted in April 2024 because of the generosity of the Peterson Family. Dolores “Dee” Peterson has funded this garden with the help of the El Segundo Women’s Club in honor of her husband, Richard Walter “Dick” Peterson. Dick was well known in the community and one of the founders of the El Segundo Historical Society. It is said that he was literally a walking encyclopedia of El Segundo History. He also liked gardening and was known for his orchids.
This garden has over 80% native plants, the only plants that are non-native are the butterfly bushes. See if you can spot and name the plants!
